Behaviour for Learning
Kilnwood Vale will have it’s own bespoke behaviour policy which will be written by the team before the school opens. There will be a set of school rules which will be on display in the classrooms and communal areas. The policy will also set out the rewards and sanctions to ensure there is consistency throughout the school. It is important that behaviour expectations are made clear to parents and children from the outset. There will be a home/school agreement which all parents will be encouraged to sign. Within the behaviour policy it will clearly set out the positive rewards and sanctions. These will also link to Thrive practice.
Positive rewards will include the following:
- Moving to the Star - Children can be moved up to the star for excellent learning and good behaviour. Children will receive a sticker at the end of the day.
- Headteacher Award - If a child is sent to the Headteacher for excellent learning then they will receive a certificate.
- House Points - Each class will have a house point chart.
- Attendance awards - Attendance trophy
Celebration assembly - Each week we have two celebrations assemblies to recognise one child from each class who has demonstrated excellent learning or displayed the core value for the month. They are awarded with a certificate and their achievement is celebrated with parents through the end of week newsletter.
At Kilnwood Vale, we endeavour to acknowledge good behaviour shown by other children, to ensure that the child who is behaving inappropriately recognises what expected behaviour looks like. However, where the behaviour is seen to be inappropriate, sanctions will be given in accordance with our Behaviour policy.
