GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

School Council

School Council is comprised of two children from each class in KS1 and KS2, who are elected by their peers. The children meet weekly to discuss a range of topics and think about ways that they can impact school life in a positive way. School Councillors lead discussions within their own classes and share these ideas at School Council meetings.

So far this year, we have seen a direct impact of school council ideas and discussions. Firstly, morning playtime for Year 2 and 3 now takes place on the main playground, allowing more space for children across the school to play. Secondly, new playtime equipment has been researched, discussed and purchased for use at breaktimes and lunchtimes.

We are really proud of the work our School Council is doing!
