Year R
Welcome to Reception at Kilnwood Vale Primary School
Reception continues the learning children will have experienced in Nursery through continuation of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Children are encouraged to build upon their independence and develop essential skills to prepare them for Year 1 and learning within the National Curriculum.
The learning environment has been designed to allow children to explore and interact with others in engaging activities linked to our half termly topics and their next steps. Children will also take part in targeted carpet times such as phonics and maths sessions, following our whole school schemes of learning.
Children are observed exploring and interacting with focus activities and within their selected lines of enquiry. These observations are used to inform assessment information and develop their next steps in the environment. Observations are also shared with parents/carer through our online learning journey EExAT. Parents/carers can also upload images and videos to this platform to share with the class or teachers all the fantastic experiences they gain from home.
On this page you will be able to see the Long-Term plans, Topic Webs and Homework Menus for this year group.
The Long Term Plan shares a brief overview of learning for the year. To see a more detailed breakdown of learning for the half term, please click on the Topic Web. The Homework Menu shares work to be completed at home to support your child - there are some to do each week and some one off projects to choose from.

Spring Term 1 - 'Do cows drink milk?'
