Nursery

Our Nursery curriculum is designed to engage children in a variety of exciting opportunities and support children to meet goals set out within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Activities are designed to inspire children to achieve their next steps and open their imagination to possibilities. Our Nursery aims to nurture children across the entirety of the curriculum and ensure that they are supported throughout their learning journey. The learning environment has been designed to allow children to explore and interact with others in engaging activities linked to our topics, current events, and their next steps. Children will also take part in targeted carpet times such as maths sessions and Jigsaw PSHE circle times.

As our Nursery can take children from the age of 2 until they are of school starting age, our topic cycle pans over 2 years ensuring that children are not repeating experiences within their time with us. All activities respond to the children’s need and their assessed next steps, meaning that as children grow, they will not only gain new topical experiences but new challenges within their development.

Children are observed exploring and interacting with focus activities and within their selected lines of enquiry. These observations are used to inform assessment information and activities within the environment. Observations are also shared with parents/carers through our online learning journey EExAT. Parents/carers can also upload images and videos to this platform to share fantastic experiences from home with the class or members of staff.

On this page you will be able to see the Long-Term plans, Topic Webs and Homework Menus for this year group.

The Long Term Plan shares a brief overview of learning for the year. To see a more detailed breakdown of learning for the half term, please click on the Topic Web. The Homework Menu shares work to be completed at home to support your child - there are some to do each week and some one off projects to choose from.

Autumn Term 2 - 'Where does snow go?'
