Curriculum Overview

Kilnwood Vale Primary School

Our Curriculum

Our exciting and inclusive curriculum is designed to fulfil our vision that every child is inspired, nurtured and enabled to achieve. Underpinned by our school values and our local context we ensure that all children grow, learn and flourish.

We believe that our children will have the confidence, knowledge and skills to become KVP Values imageexceptional global citizens of the future. The curriculum experience at Kilnwood Vale is underpinned by Oracy, which is a fundamental part of all lessons for all children.

Our ambition for all children is that they are inspired to challenge themselves from the beginning of early years to the end of year 6. Staff will nurture the children's aspirations, enable learning through investigation and as a school community we will celebrate the children's achievements.

Our progressive and layered curriculum is designed to ensure that all children develop the basic skills and knowledge at each step on their journey through the school as well as a love of learning. Children will secure, retain and apply the skills of reading, communicating, writing and calculating to the highest standard.

Our termly, knowledge rich projects inspire children to become immersed in each curriculum area, with great opportunites for children to become experts, for example as Scientists, Historians, Geographers or Artists. Children develop a deep understanding of the subjects and make excellent progress due to the systematically planned and coherent sequencing of learning. Children in Year 1, when asked about their learning, said that a favourite lesson from all children was Science and they could see why they all needed to be good scientists to do their dream careers when they grow up. They were inspired to become a doctor and help people who are sick, an astronaut to save the planet and to become a farmer and grow crops to sell them.

Inspiring, nurturing and enabling children to achieve. Kilnwood vale logo only 1x1inch v2
